The Korinthian Canal Tour 2007

The Canal is known by many names, The Isthmus, The Korinthian Canal, ?st΅??, and d?????a, but they all describe a channel, cut through the southern peninsula of Greece connecting the Korinthian and Saronik Gulfs and making exploration and commerce a shorter distance to travel. The Korinthian Canal tour is a trip of a lifetime. Situated in the Peloponnese (Southern Greece), it was a dream of the Emperor Nero to cut the peninsula in half in order for sea fairing voyages not to have to navigate around the point of Monemvasia to enter the Korinthian Gulf . Throughout history it has been attempted but thought impossible. One belief was that if the canal were cut, the Korinthian Gulf might drain into the Saronik Gulf . Then in the late 1800's, the French government successfully completed the project. For the first time in history, on October 18th 2006, the canal was navigated via non motorized craft. After a year of negotiations, we were given the green light to go ahead with the crossing. Now we can offer you too this once in a lifetime experience.

The trip takes three hours. One and a half hours of actual kayaking and included is:

All equipment, guides and transportation to and from Korinthos train station

Lunch in an authentic Greek Taverna on the waters edge

Commemorative DVD and T-shirt of your trip through the Canal
